Mexico City’s Ministry of Environment (SEDEMA) joined Climate Action Week, a private sector-led initiative that seeks to raise awareness of climate challenges, strengthen citizen participation, and recognize the role of governments in designing and implementing environmental public policies. In Mexico City, the event will take place from Oct. 5 to 9, with activities designed to reach communities directly.
"This Climate and Nature Action Week belongs to everyone," said Erica Valencia, Director General, México por el Clima. Climate Action Weeks are held in cities around the world, such as New York, London and Paris, bringing together governments, organizations, companies, academic institutions, and civil society to share experiences and build alliances to address the climate crisis.
SEDEMA's program is organized around three pillars: climate action, circular economy, and biodiversity, with perspectives that include social justice, gender equality, care, youth, inclusion and community participation. The agenda includes 30 events, three workshops and a mobile "Circular Fashion" module, as well as the participation of 2026 Environmental Merit Award winners and cooperative members. The activities will contribute to the goals of Mexico City's Climate Action Program (PACCM) 2025-2030. Admission is free and open to the public.
The week is organized by Mexico por el Clima, which is preparing the second edition of its Climate and Nature Action Week 2026. For the first time, the agenda will jointly address climate and nature challenges. Singapore will be the guest country of honor, while Mexico City, the UN Coordination Office in Mexico, the European Union and the State of Mexico will participate as strategic allies.
Singapore's participation will open spaces for exchange on urban sustainability, resilience, green finance and nature-based solutions, while international organizations seek to connect Mexican initiatives with global climate and conservation agendas.
México por el Clima structured its program around three pillars: Planetary Awakening, Catalytic Innovation, and Resilient Ecosystems. These will cover topics including energy transition, biodiversity, water, mobility, sustainable cities, food, regenerative tourism, innovation, finance, and climate justice. The agenda will also include art, culture, and the participation of Indigenous peoples.
Announced participants include Cristina Mittermeier, Michel Rojkind, Lorena Ramírez, Jeremy Lent, Marc Buckley, Mindahi Bastida and Fulvio Eccardi, along with representatives of Indigenous communities and international organizations. More than 50 parallel events will take place across the country during October, allowing companies, organizations, and institutions to develop proposals linked to their own territories.
The week will also continue projects promoted throughout the year by México por el Clima's Working Groups, focused on connecting initiatives, knowledge, investment, innovation, and public policy. The first edition gathered more than 4,000 attendees, 300 speakers and 150 sessions, and the 2026 edition seeks to consolidate the platform as a permanent space for collaboration.
