What Florida approved, and what gets bought

Savvas said the approved lineup covers elementary through high school: enVision+ Florida Mathematics © 2028 for grades K, 8; accelerated versions for grades 3, 4, 6 and 7; a grade 8 pre-algebra course; and enVision+ Florida A|G|A and A|G|A Honors © 2028 for Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2, including split Algebra 1-A and 1-B, according to PR Newswire.

The state approval also includes two advanced electives built under Savvas’s Outlier brand: Outlier College Algebra Florida © 2025 and Outlier Intro to Statistics Florida © 2025, according to Savvas.

In the PR Newswire release, Savvas said the FLDOE found the Florida-specific programs align with the state’s Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards for Mathematics and the B.E.S.T. Instructional Guides, and that the materials get students ready for the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) in Mathematics.

The real work is print-plus-digital rollout

PR Newswire reported that Savvas said enVision+ Florida programs are available in both print and digital formats through the award-winning Savvas Realize learning management system.

Savvas says enVision+ Florida is vertically aligned from kindergarten through Algebra 2.

Savvas said enVision+ Florida is vertically aligned from kindergarten through Algebra 2 and is intended to provide continuity year to year, according to PR Newswire.

Florida’s adoption list is crowded, and that’s the point

McGraw Hill said Sept. 3 that the Florida Department of Education approved all of its submitted K, 12 math programs through the state adoption process, making them available for all 67 school districts across Florida to select and implement with their approximately 3 million students, according to Business Wire. Business Wire listed approved materials including Florida Math for grades K-5 and 6-8, Florida Math Accelerated for grades 6-7, Algebra 1 and Algebra 1 Honors, Geometry and Geometry Honors, Algebra 2 and Algebra 2 Honors, and Pre-Calculus Honors.

Efficacy claims still need local proof points

According to PR Newswire, Savvas said earlier editions of its enVision programs already in use in Florida meet ESSA Level 2 evidence standards, and pointed to “rigorous studies” finding Florida students who used enVision Mathematics K, 8 and enVision Florida B.E.S.T. A|G|A posted stronger math performance than students who did not use the programs on FAST and B.E.S.T. end-of-course assessments.

Schools are still catching up after Google opened Gemini to every student

Schools are still catching up after Google opened Gemini to every student

Education Week reports that expanded student access to Gemini has raised classroom-policy questions. Managed school accounts and personal accounts have different terms and controls. District leaders should verify current access, feature age restrictions and data protections before setting classroom guidance.

  • 01Google lists Gemini Apps as a core service for Education Fundamentals, Standard and Plus with all-age access; some features are age-restricted. Google AI Pro for Education has separate eligibility requirements.
  • 02Guided Learning, the step-by-step mode inside Gemini, is the feature that bears most directly on the cheating-versus-learning question, and Fast Company noted it is similar to the Study mode OpenAI had announced in ChatGPT the week before.
  • 03For districts, “students can use Gemini” is too coarse: which mode they land in and who supervises first use can change what the tool does with a homework question

OpenAI says GPT-6 Astra is the first model to hit its 'Critical' cyber threshold

OpenAI says GPT-6 Astra is the first model to hit its 'Critical' cyber threshold

OpenAI has unveiled GPT-6 Astra and says it is the first model to reach the "Critical" cybersecurity tier of its Preparedness Framework, Campus Technology reported Sept. 10. The label is the vendor's own. Campus and district IT leaders now weigh it alongside Microsoft's legally enforceable AI data protections, open to all districts Nov. 1.

  • 01A frontier vendor is now publishing its own capability tier alongside a broadly deployed release, which gives procurement a sharper question to ask every AI supplier: which tier, and what mitigations come with it.
  • 02Microsoft's legally enforceable student and teacher data protections open to every U.S. district on Nov. 1, a concrete reference point for anyone negotiating AI contract terms with other vendors this fall.
  • 03OpenAI's Navier-Stokes claim and Anthropic's formal-proof work are, as reported, vendor claims; independent verification is the signal that would turn either into a result.
